Although she never gained the respect of highbrow literary critics, Cooper was a very successful writer of teenaged-girl psychodramas. Dramatically psychotic teenaged girls lapped them up. Until their parents realised how sexually explicit they were, at which point their dads ‘confiscated’ them.
