A Letterset is a letter or number formed from a grid of 36 separate images.
I shoot a sequence of 36 photographs, in the appropriate order, to create a 6 x 6 grid (approx. total size: 90 x 60cm) making the desired letter or number. Of course, I started doing these in pre-digital days, when you could only shoot a limited number of pictures per roll of film. 36, for example. You had to get it right,
in camera. There was a discipline involved which is no longer necessary – but I still do it that way.
It’s just better.
